THIS week many Bahamians took advantage of the long weekend, not only to celebrate Majority Rule Day but to hit their favourite fishing spot.

In braving the mediocre weather we have seen some of the largest Wahoo caught so far this season with many weighing over 80lbs. The Wahoo season has lived up to its expectations so far and will continue to do so until the middle of March.

The ladies also got into the action this week, catching some beautiful Mutton Snapper either by bottom fishing or spearfishing.

Keep checking the Bahamas Sport Fishing Network (BSFN) expert page for fishing reports throughout the Bahamas: this will be helpful in tracking the “hot spots” and providing advice on gear and fishing methods being used.

For a sample of the spectacular fishing to be had in The Bahamas, expert advice, tournament dates and results, informative features and photo galleries visit the BSFN page at tribune242.com or www.bsfn.biz.

BSFN slideshows can be found on USA Today’s website in the Travel section at experience.usatoday.com. The latest one is ‘What’s the catch? Terrific tuna caught in the Bahamas’.
