Great Harbour Cay Wahoo tourney another great success

THE seventh annual Great Harbour Cay Wahoo Tournament, held in honour of long time resident Jim Storey who fished this tournament for many years, was another great success.

A total of ten boats participated. Five boats had to pull out as the weather leading up to the tournament was too rough to cross. Saturday was a great day and two boats were well in the lead.

First day fishing saw Llangus from Freeport take a small lead and weigh the heaviest fish at 45.8 pounds. The Blue Label out of Florida was close behind.

On Sunday morning the anglers woke up to 20-plus knot winds. The Blue Label’s young guns were first to fire up their engines, forcing the older more experienced Llangus to go out and defend their lead.

Both boats were in at about midday, but only the old men caught a fish to solidify their lead and take the overall and the calcutta. All in all a very exciting tournament with hundreds of spectators on the dock.
