TAVARIO Miller received the first start of his career and responded with a career high to help his No.10 ranked Texas A and M Aggies remain one of the hottest teams in all of NCAA Division I basketball.

In a career high 21 minutes, Miller grabbed a career high 10 rebounds and added two points and one block in his Aggies’ 66-53 win over the Missouri Tigers in Reed Arena in Coll Station, Texas, on Saturday.

It was the 10th consecutive win for A and M and they improved to 17-2 overall and a perfect 7-0 in the SEC. The 10-game winning streak is the programme’s best since a 13-game streak in 2010-11.

Texas A and M will take to the road against Arkansas next Wednesday.

In the Big 12, Naismith College Player of the Year Buddy Hield continued his hotstreak and his team rebounded with a win over a ranked opponent.

Hield scored 19 points as the No.1 ranked Sooners won 82-72 over the No.13 Baylor Bears on Saturday.

Hield also added eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Sidelined for much of the first half due to foul trouble, Hield shot .700 (7-10) from the field and .571 (4-7) from long distance. It marked the sixth straight game Hield has posted at least four treys.

“That was a real important stretch. The guys stepped up and made plays. I expect that in a team like that from guys like Jordan and Isaiah. They get in the gym a lot and make a lot of big shots.

“Jordan was really carrying the whole team by making shots. I was happy – if you looked at the bench I was celebrating more than anyone. I was really happy to see him make shots in the stretch.”

Hield is averaging 25.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

In the Northeastern Conference, Michael Carey Jr recorded his fourth consecutive double double, and eighth of the season. He finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 66 per cent from the field in a 67-58 loss to Sacred Heart.

Carey Jr previously posted games of 17 points and 12 rebounds and back-to-back games of 13 points and 10 rebounds. He is currently averaging 10.2 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.
