Truckers run over Cheetahs, Operators stop the Cybots

THE defending champions Johnson Lady Truckers pulled off a big 72-64 victory over former champions Career Builders Lady Cheetahs to highlight the New Providence Women’s Basketball Association double header at the DW Davis Gymnasium Saturday night.

In the other game played, the Bommer Gee Lady Operators routed the Super Value Cybot Queens 61-44.

In her best game for the season, Stacy Horton played 31 minutes and 41 seconds and scored 17 points with six rebounds and was joined by Latoya Rolle as she pumped in 17 points with 13 rebounds and four assists in their victory. Keeva Barry also stepped up big with 14 points and four assists and Janice Williams (12 rebounds), Nayaka Dean (seven rebounds) and Shantell Rolle all added eight points.

Pamela Bethel, who played the entire 40 minutes, had 19 points and 22 rebounds, both game high honours, to lead the losers. Brontae Riley had 12 points and 11 rebounds, Latoya Silva 12 points and Christine Sinclair added 10 points, three rebounds and three assists.

Lady Operators 61,

Cybot Queens 44

Philicia Kelly scored a game high 20 points with 11 rebounds and five assists to pace the Bommer Gee to victory. Rudy Simms had 13 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, Sherellle Cash had seven points and Britenique Harrison added five points with seven rebounds.

For the Cybot Queens, Tracy Lewis was one of two players in double figures with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Christin Seymour was the other with 10 points and four rebounds.

• The NPWBA will be back in action with another double header Tuesday night.
