Grand Bahama police have identified the island’s first homicide victim of 2016 as 23-year-old Eleazor Louis, of Caravel Beach, Freeport.

Louis was gunned down around 6pm on January 25 in the Bass Lane and Murchinson Drive area.

A 20-year-old man was taken into custody by police that evening for questioning.

Investigations are continuing into the matter.

FIRE

Police are also investigating a structural fire that occurred in Eight Mile Rock early Friday morning.

Inspector Pinder reported that police received a report around 4am of a fire in the Jones Town area. On arrival, she said, firemen found a single wooden structure engulfed in flames.

She said the structure was destroyed but no one was injured.
