BAHAMIAN judo athlete Cynthia Rahming has represented The Bahamas at the first ever Pan American Sports Organisation Continental Athletes Forum.

The forum was held May 24-25 and focused on the formation of athletes’ commissions in the region’s various national Olympic committees (NOCs). All 41 countries of the ‘Pan American’ area were represented at the forum.

Athletes’ commissions are established to aid the work of the NOCs and to be a voice for the athletes in the administration of sports.

The forum concentrated mainly on awareness of the structure of athletes’ commissions and stressed the importance of taking action by forming such commissions. An agreement was made between the Caribbean athletes to consolidate and form an athletes’ commission under the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC).
