A DOUBLE world record attempt is under way at Stuart Cove’s Dive Bahamas.

Two would-be record holders from Kuwait are seeking to earn a place in the books for the longest underwater drive by a man and by a woman.

The pair - Reem Aleidan, a certified scuba instructor, and Mubarak Abuhaimad - were yesterday out in the water as the attempt began.

Ms Reem said: “I was looking for a way to raise awareness for women’s rights and the plight of Arab women in the Middle East.

“I am hoping by holding this event in the Western world we can bring media attention to the plight of women like me in the Middle East and any other countries around the world where women are repressed.”

The record bid will last for 60 hours plus - and can be followed online at www.StuartCove.com/teamreem.
