Police hunting for two suspects after armed robberies

POLICE are searching for two men responsible for committing an armed robbery over the weekend.

According to police reports, shortly after 9pm on Saturday, a woman had just pulled up to her Stanford Drive home when two men armed with a handgun approached her and robbed her of her handbag containing cash, two passports and other personal items.

The assailants fled the scene in a white Mitsubishi.

Meanwhile, two men have been taken into custody in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm and ammunition, police said.

According to reports, around 10pm Saturday officers from the Western Division intercepted a Honda with two suspicious men on West Bay Street. The vehicle was searched and a .40 pistol along with three rounds of ammunition were seized.

The two men were subsequently taken into custody in connection with the seizure.

Police also said an American man is in custody after he was arrested for drug possession in Harbour Island.

The suspect is from Boston, police said.

According to police reports, shortly after 9pm Saturday, officers in Harbour Island conducted a search of a suspicious adult male and found a quantity of marijuana in his possession.

Investigations continue.
