THOSE in search of “inspiration, inner peace and mental stimulation” will get a good dose of it during the Mind.Body.Spirit festival next week.

Now in its second year, the festival seeks to promote wholeness in every area of life. The festival will be held at The Place For Art on the Doongalik Studios & Art Gallery grounds March 19-20. The event opens from 12pm - 7pm on both days.

The Mind.Body.Spirit festival will feature activities and services that include yoga, henna painting, native teas, healthy eats, mental wellness, Reiki, massage, astrology, smoothies, sound therapy, natural healing, new age jewellery, portrait artist displays and live music for all to enjoy.

There will be live music by DJ Ampero who will set the ambiance with new age and inspirational music.

Kim Smith, renowned artist and the festival’s main organiser, said he is looking forward to the event at The Place For Art, a specialised art education centre offering classes for children, teens and adults.

“The purpose of the festival is to give exposure to individual business and services that encourage healthy living with a focus on the mind, body and spirit,” he said.

Mr Smith has operated The Place For Art since 2011. In 2013, he relocated the art school to the Doongalik Studios property, and with a business partner, expanded client services to include custom picture framing.

“People attending the festival will be pleasantly surprised by the peaceful setting in the gardens of this old Bahamian property. The various presenters will be tucked away in many shady corners of the yard which enables just the right amount of privacy for each area, and a calming, peaceful ambiance,” he told Tribune Health.

This year, Mr Smith said he has added a new element to the festival, one for kids.

“The planning committee felt it necessary to introduce the area to introduce children to yoga/meditation as well as to get away from the touch screens and other technology driven devices by becoming engaged in play through the creative arts and LEGO,” he said.

Planned activities include a LEGO play area, dream catcher craft tent, face painting, kids yoga/hip-hop, multi-sensory awakening, and a colouring activity.

The proceeds from $5 entrance fee, Mr Smith said, will be donated to Doongalik Studios Art Supply Drive and the Lignum Vitae Centre of Hope.
