Man in hospital after police shootout

A SHOOTOUT with police has left a man in hospital this weekend.

According to police the incident took place shortly after 8pm at Greenwich Street off Mason’s Way on Saturday.

The suspect, who was found firing a hangun, was shot by an officer during an exchange of gunfire.

A handgun, along with five rounds of ammunition, was recovered.

The suspect was taken to hospital with injuries that were reported not to be life threatening.

A MailBoat employee was taken into custody after he was found in possession of a large amount of drugs at Potter’s Cay Dock on Friday night.

Police report that officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit discovered a box on a mailboat moored at Potter’s Cay with several taped packages containing 25 pounds of marijuana.

Over the weekend police arrested 13 individuals, seized one illegal gun and a quantity of marijuana.

Officers arrested six men after they found a quantity of dangerous drugs during a search of an abandoned building on Bernard Road shortly after 3pm on Saturday.

Early yesterday morning, police conducted a search of a man at Potter’s Cay Dock and found a 9mm pistol with seven rounds of ammunition in his possession. He was taken into custody.

Additionally, six other men were arrested for questioning with reference to murder, stealing and assault with a deadly weapon.

Police are appealing to the public for any information in connection with any of these matters.
