Woman robbed at gunpoint in Eight Mile Rock

A WOMAN was robbed at gunpoint of cash by two masked men at Lovers Beach in Eight Mile Rock, Grand Bahama, on Thursday, police reported.

The victim told police that around 11am, while walking along the beach in Hepburn Town, two men approached her and demanded cash and property. She said that one had a handgun and the other a crowbar.

After robbing the woman, the culprits fled on foot in an easterly direction. They were wearing dark clothing and were described as being between 6ft 2in and 6ft 4in.

ASP Alvardo Dames said police are investigating the matter.

Operation Turf Sweep officers have arrested three people who were allegedly found in possession of dangerous drugs. While in the Hunters area, police observed a man acting suspiciously on the side of the road and, during a search, discovered a small quantity of suspected marijuana in the pocket of his trousers. The 29-year-old resident of Hunters was arrested and taken into custody.

In the Eight Mile Rock area, officers observed a 17-year-old male resident sitting on a wall outside an apartment building in Bartlette Hill. They searched him and discovered a quantity of items which were suspected of being gained unlawfully. He was arrested.

In Jones Town, Eight Mile Rock, officers observed a 39-year-old resident of Hunters smoking and acting suspiciously at the local Fish Fry. They searched the man, discovered a suspected marijuana cigarette, and arrested him.
