SOME factions within the Free National Movement recommended that former FNM Chairman Darron Cash face disciplinary action over his critical public commentary of the party and FNM Leader Dr Hubert Minnis, The Tribune understands.

The suggestion, according to party insiders, was put forward during a “spirited” council meeting last Thursday by some members in the organisation. However, it is unclear if any action will be taken against Mr Cash.

This gathering also saw Dr Minnis openly rebuke FNM political hopeful Lincoln Bain with accusations that he may have been secretly recording the ongoing meeting, the sources claimed.

Just last week, Mr Cash blamed Dr Minnis for the “dismal state” of the Official Opposition and said it is now time for the party to seek “fresh, new” leadership.

In a statement, Mr Cash said Dr Minnis and his entire leadership team must give a full accounting of his stewardship of the FNM. He also said a full convention with all the accountability factors built in is the right way for that to happen and called for it to be held in the next 90 days.

Last week, Mr Cash also lamented that the FNM has become “a shadow of its former self” and risks being “sunk by an anchor of leadership that has been found wanting.”

“This meeting was very spirited and at times contentious,” one insider told The Tribune.

“It was at this time where Darron Cash faced multiple personal attacks over everything he has said in the public domain. There were many angry voices from those supporters of Dr Minnis who felt that those who don’t support him shouldn’t have certain views,” the source said.

“Another thing took place that many of us felt was frankly out of line. Someone’s cell phone rang during the meeting. Dr Minnis then says ‘Lincoln Bain I hope you aren’t recording this meeting and if I find that you were and what we’ve discussed here in this meeting, all hell will break loose,’” the source alleged.

“At that time Bain got up, saluted Minnis and left the meeting. He was offended by it and to be honest the comment was just out of line.”

Mr Bain courted controversy early this month after he recorded a private conversation with attorney Lanisha Rolle. He later admitted to recording their meeting saying he had been tipped off that he was about to be “sabotaged”. The move was in a bid to protect himself, he told The Tribune.

Mrs Rolle resigned from the Senate on May 13 after The Tribune exclusively published a series of stories highlighting what was purportedly said during the meeting between her and Mr Bain.

However, the former senator has said her resignation was sparked by personal reasons to the extent that she did not want to be a distraction to the party and its work.

Why are FNMs so "touchous"??????? ........... For Jesus' sake this is politics!!!!!!!! ........ the original 'survival of the fittest' profession ............. Cash is playing 'Devil's Advocate' in the FNM ............. he has his vote just like anyone else at the convention ........ Do not repeat in the FNM what is going on in the PLP and DNA ............ strongman kleptocracy

Comrade Greentea, I is being charitable...and isn't this another one them rejected like 400 delegates votes to one convention delegate vote, from retaining his red chairman's position?
.....And embarrassingly rejected by constituents to represent them in the Honourable House of Assembly.

He certainly lost Carmichael but if I recall by less than 100 votes so it was a difficult loss but not embarrassing. He got his deposit back. All I am saying is how a person "looks" should have little bearing on their political heft. How he thinks and what he - or she- can do is what we need right now. Some vision.Maybe Cash should work on people skills - but he sounds like he is sick of the political business as usual. If he can't get with the program, change the system or work within the system, he is a smart guy. He knows the price.

At this point there is no question or debate. Minnis is a failure. Who are these dullards in the FNM that can't see this?!?!?

Minnis has to go...

The FNM looks like they will be rebuilding the party almost from scratch And, I'm not sure that they have enough time to do it. At this rate, the utterly corrupt and useless PLP may win every f'in seat. GOD HELP US IF THEY DO!!!!

Comrade not to contest the 2017 General, nor invest $500,000 to call an early convention to unset Minnis, but spend the time and moneys over the next five years working at changing the faces of the party, while rebuilding the party's constituency branches from the opposition ground up - might be the smartest decision the red party can make for their future viability.
The names and faces have all become stale and not longer trusted as a government-in-waiting. Ten thousand percent, you don't want to bring the likes of a Darron back as a rebuilding face of a new and all improved red opposition.

It would be nice if these tit-tats back and forth had some specifics to them.

Cash should be specific and Minnis should respond specific.

No more name calling.

This is wwhat the FNM is all about. and their Papa is right in the midst of it all .. They all deserve each other every single one of them. Now Papa's children can tell the Bahamian people how much did he sell BTC for and how much is it being sold for now? And why did he give GBPA Control of any port in East end.??

All alike Pots calling kettles black. They know that the UBP boys are in control of the FNM. When they told their Delivery boy to jump, he did. The Doc does not know how to jump, he will have to learn.

The FNM as it is today is the legacy of Hubert A. Ingraham......nothing but a testament to his failure as a politician.

Well_mudda_take_sic, our failure to lead and think in terms of succession politically is similar to the lack of ability of men to take up fatherhood roles in the wider society. Was HAI mentored or did he have to figure it out himself? Bahamian men generally seem to find it difficult to father, nurture and lead as if these characteristics are mutually exclusive. So we have a succession problem because the big daddy's never never mentor younger politicians, never know when its time to go and the un-mentored boys can't seem to ever stand up and outfox big daddy- a mark of political strength-(which you gotta give to HAI- though he struck when his papa was critically weak). What do you have? Weak, corrupt men waiting to be conferred as leader. What do you get? Weaker and weaker leadership. I see Neko Grant making a move...

The true test to the viability of any organization is the presence of SUCCESSION PLANNING ......... there is none in the PLP, FNM or DNA ......... a sure sign that there is no true democracy in our Bahamian politics .......... we are led by ad hoc leaders in all three parties
