TRACK COLLEGE RECRUITMENT

ST Thomas University in Miami, Florida, will hold a recruitment exercise for both academic and athletic prospects 2-4pm Sunday at RM Bailey Secondary High School.

SOFTBALL

NPOTSA ACTION

THE New Providence Oldtimers Softball Association continued its regular season action over the weekend with a couple of games at the Archdeacon William Thompson Softball Park, Southern Recreation Grounds.

Here’s a summary of the games played:

Original Crusaders 14, All-Star Truckers 1: Mike Knowles had a perfect 4-for-4 day with a run batted in (RBI) and scored three times for the winners.

Greg Gardiner out-duelled Kermit ‘Shaft’ Mackey on the mound for the win.

Coors Light 14, Corner Boys 4: Tommy Stubbs was 3-for-4 with three runs scored in the win. Ivan Hanna was the winning pitcher and Harold ‘Banker’ Fritzgerald got tagged with the loss.

Lone Rangers 13, KC Construction 3: Henry Cooper went 3-for-4 with a RBI, scoring three times in the win. Val Munroe got the win and Johnny Armbrister suffered the loss.

The Sharks 15, Coors Light 9: Robin Shepherd went 3-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and three runs scored in the win. Foster Dorsett was the winning pitcher and Ivan Hanna got the loss.

FOOTBALL

Lyford Cay International School (LCIS) will host its annual KPMG Football Fest on Friday, the fifth year the tournament has been held. The KPMG Football Fest brings together nearly 100 student athletes from four different Caribbean countries, including the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands and Jamaica, for two days of competitive sport, fun and cultural exchange.

The opening ceremony, which will feature a team parade with national flags, kicks off the event on Friday from 8.15am-8.40am followed by a 13 and under football tournament with matches featuring players who represent five schools from around the Caribbean through to 4.30pm.
