BLTA GOOMBAY SPLASH

THE Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association hosts its annual Goombay Splash Bowl ITF 18U Tournament and COTECC 14U event beginning this weekend at the National Tennis Centre.

Participants worldwide from the US, China, Canada, Russia, Trinidad, Barbados, Curacao, India, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Mexico, Japan, Australia, Guatemala, Italy, Brazil, Germany, Colombia, Panama, Norway, Turkey, Dominican Republic,  will converge in Nassau at the National Tennis Centre where each player will showcase his/her talent.

The qualifying round will begin on Saturday for two days and the main draw will begin on Monday and end on Saturday with the girls and boys finals being played. Matches begin at 9am daily.

POSTPONED

Due to the rain that fell on Wednesday at Freedom Farm, the Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools postposed game two of their best-of-three softball championship series for today, starting at 4 pm.

CITY BOWLING LEAGUE

THE most valuable player from the City Bowling League competition Monday night at Mario’s Bowling Lanes was Richie Pyfrom of Telco Enterprises who downed the pins for a huge 651 high three game set.

The runner-up was Anthony Ingraham of the Reach Crusaders with the 243 high game and a 639 second high set. Lee Davis of the Ten Back Strikers struck for the second the game of 241. The leader in the ladies’ category was Driskell Rolle of the TK Falcons with a 214 high game and a respectable 570 high three game set. Janice Hoyte of the Ten Back Strikers had 201 for the second high game and a 537 second high set. The team scores for the evening were as follows:

Island Game Strokers 3, Reach Crusaders 0; Fresh Blend 3, BEC Shockers 0; Telco Enterprises 3, E&U Watercoolers 0; TK Falcons 3, Carib Construction 0; Bahamasair Flyers 2, Ten Back Strikers 1; Checker’s Café 2, The Avengers 1 and Giga Tech 2, CDM Knights 1.
