Giants, Panchos get wins

THE New Providence Basketball Association continued its regular season at AF Adderley Gymnasium Wednesday night when the Johnson Trucking Panchos and the Commonwealth Bank Giants won their respective games.

In the return of Division II play to the league, the Panchos knocked off the Elites Basketball Club 86-76 and the Giants won another Division 1 contest (88-71) over the Double R Services Limited Cleaners.

Here’s a summary of the games:

Panchos 86, Elites 76

After opening up an early 22-15 lead at the end of the first quarter, Johnson’s Trucking managed to surge ahead and hold on for the win down the stretch to take the opening match in Division II.

Christoff Storr was on fire as he pumped in a game high 32 points with 15 rebounds for the Elites. Tyrrell Griffin had 12 points, four rebounds and four assists; Henry Rolle had nine points, 11 rebounds and six assists; Michael Davis added nine points and five rebounds and Frederick Marshall chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.

In a losing effort, Teneas Mackey came off the bench with 18 points and five rebounds; Rashad Stubbs had 12 points and eight rebounds; Martin Conliffe 10 points and four rebounds; Dario McKenzie eight points and four assists and Livigi Forbes added seven points and three assists.

Giants 88, Cleaners 71

Commonwealth Bank broke away from a 39-32 halftime lead to explode to a 56-40 lead at the end of the third and they held on for the win in the fourth.

David ‘Skittles’ Taylor came off the bench and ignited their balanced offensive attack with a game high 23 points and five rebounds. Tehran Cox had 17 points, four rebounds and three assists; Karon Pratt contributed 10 points with 13 rebounds and seven assists and Jeffrey Henfield added 12 points and seven rebounds.

Lyndrick Storr helped out with nine points; Trent Cox had eight points and 14 rebounds and Kevin Hinsey had seven points.

For Double R Services Limited, Rashad Woodside was the hot spark with 19 points and seven rebounds as they only had two players in double figures. The other was Tamiko King with 11 points.

Romell Johnson and Stephen Culmer Jr both had eight points and three rebounds. Herbert Knowles added six points with three rebounds.

The league is all set to resume play this weekend with the following games:
