TWO men were killed in two separate shooting incidents over the weekend taking the country's murder count to 92 for the year, according to The Tribune's records.

The latest shooting took place shortly after 2pm on Sunday off Baillou Hill Road.

Officer-in-Charge of the Central Detective Unit, Chief Superintendent Clayton Fernander said police were called to the scene on Palm Tree Avenue after a relative of the victim discovered him lying on the ground of his home with gunshot wounds to the body.

“When police arrived on the scene, they met the lifeless body of a male who appeared to be in his late 50s. The victim was found in a one-bedroom structure on the floor,” Chief Supt Fernander said.

“He was found lifeless by relatives who came to check on him and they met him on the floor with gunshot wounds. At this present time we do not know the motive for this murder but we are appealing to members of the public and persons who live in the area, who many have seen anything to come forward.”

Chief Supt Fernander said the victim appeared to have been dead for a few hours. A resident in the area said she heard shots around midnight but did not “check to see” if anyone in the area had been shot.

The homicide was the eighth so far in November and the fifth in the last week.

Another man was killed shortly after 7pm on Friday.

According to Chief Supt Fernander, the victim was walking in the area of Nichol's Court in Yellow Elder Gardens when a gunman emerged from a black Honda and shot him before speeding off. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

Chief Supt Fernander said police took an adult male into custody for questioning in relation to this killing on Saturday.

Police have not identified the victim but The Tribune understands he is 25-year-old Mario Bain Jr of Yellow Elder Gardens.

Mr Bain's brother, 19-year-old Lamar Bain, was shot and killed in Yellow Elder Gardens in 2012, while another brother 23-year-old Lasean Bain was also shot and killed in Yellow Elder Gardens a year earlier.

Police have declined to comment on whether they think the murders of the siblings are related.

Anyone with information on any of these homicides is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.

Investigations continue.

Seems like any living brothers of Bain should be writing their Wills right about now.
