BAISS SOFTBALL

JUNIOR GIRLS REGULAR SEASON

THE Charles W Saunders Cougars surprised the St Augustine’s College Big Red Machine 11-1 in a four inning abbreviated junior girls game yesterday at Charles W Saunders High School as the Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools continued its 2016 softball regular season action.

Mia Turner struck out 10 for the win and she helped her own cause by going 2-for-3 at the plate. Paris Roberts helped out by going 1-for-2 and Starr Jones was 1-for-3.

CHAMPION BOXING CLUB

GOLDEN GLOVES AMATEUR TOURNEY

CHAMPION Amateur Boxing Club is scheduled to hold its 21st annual L Garth Wright Sr Golden Gloves Amateur Boxing Tournament at the Wulff Road Boxing Square on Saturday.

The event is scheduled to start at 7pm and will showcase boxers from the Abaco Boxing Team, Freeport Boxing Team, Major Pain Boxing Club, Lion-Heart Boxing Club and the Strikers Boxing Club.

The main event will feature Lennox Boyce, the 2020 Olympic hopeful out of the Champion Amateur Boxing Club, against Trey Davis from the Freeport Boxing Team.

Other matches include: Daedae Eugena (New Providence) against Glovels Escament (Abaco).

All amateur boxers and boxing clubs are invited to participate. “We look forward to having members of the New Providence Amateur Boxing Association and the Boxing Federation in attendance,” said Ray Minus Jr, the founder and head coach of the Champion Amateur Boxing Club.

Minus Jr offered special thanks to sponsors Cedric Munnings, d’Albenas Agency, Wallace Whitfield & Co and Bahamas Vision Centre.
