Man accused over death of son back in court in two weeks

A MAN awaiting trial concerning the death of his son will return to the Supreme Court in two weeks for a status hearing on his case.

Delano Coakley Sr, 30, and his lawyer Romona Farquharson-Seymour appeared before Justice Bernard Turner for a report from the Crown on their readiness to proceed with Coakley’s case concerning the death Delano Coakley Jr.

Prosecutor Darell Taylor said she would be in a position to address the court after a short adjournment, as she was not originally handling the matter.

The case was adjourned to November 7 for a further status hearing.

Coakley Sr faces a charge of manslaughter by negligence concerning the August 24, 2011 death of his young son who was thrown from the car when it crashed.

Coakley Sr remains on bail.
