Anglican Church Men to host 11th annual Grill Fest

THE Anglican Church Men (ACM) of St James Parish are once again stoking the fires in preparation for the annual Father R F Anthony Roberts’ King of the Grill Fest.  The event will be held this Saturday from 12noon to 6pm on the church’s grounds in Adelaide Village. The day will end with a Junkanoo rush-out.

The ACM of St James, in their commitment to national development and community outreach, have held this major fundraiser every year since 2005.

Through this initiative the ACM hope to positively impact the Adelaide community and surrounding areas. Money will also be used for the church environment and a number of other charitable organisations.

The Grill Fest is also chance for people to come out and enjoy themselves while they fellowship with one another.

“It enables various branches of the ACM and many other people to come together for good clean fun,” the organisation said.

The highlight of the day will be the cooking competition between the various ACM branches of New Providence.

In order to ensure fairness and that a very high standard is maintained, Chef Addimae Farrington of the College Of the Bahamas’ Hotel Training Division and three certified chefs will judge the competition. The competition will begin at 3pm and will end at 4.30pm.

The current champions are the Holy Trinity ACM who defeated the one-time defending champions St Agnes.

The event is named in honour of Father R F Anthony Roberts, former assistant priest at St James. It was Father Roberts’ vision to invite the different branches of the ACM to come together for a cooking competition to see who was the best. Before this could be realised, Father Roberts died.

The ACM of St James, under the leadership of Julius Cox, took up the challenge and felt that it was only fitting that the Grill Fest be named in his honour.
