A NEWBORN baby was found alive in bushes off Carmichael Road on Friday, police said.

The baby boy was found shortly after 7am by a “good samaritan” who was not identified by authorities.

When police responded to reports, they found the baby in the Golden Isles area off Carmichael Road.

Police said they found the infant in good health and in the care of the resident when they showed up at the scene.

The baby was then taken to hospital.

Police are seeking the public’s help in finding the child’s mother.

A video purporting to show the baby being found in bushes made the rounds on social media on Friday, prompting outrage from Bahamians.

In the video, a man can be seen walking through grass and stopping in front of a barely moving infant.

The baby begins to cry when poked with a stick at the end of the video.

A high-ranking police official yesterday declined to confirm if the baby that was found on Friday was the one shown on the video.
