Under the theme "The Sounds of Christmas", the Mount Moriah Baptist Church Ladies Ministry will host the group's third annual Candle Light Carol Service this Sunday.

The festivities will take place on the Farrington Road church grounds at 7pm. Carols will be sung, whistles blown, drums will thump and cowbells will clang as the ladies are all set to provide fellowship for those who attend.

The Ladies Ministry Chorus will provide music directed by the church's music director, Darville "Sonny" Walkine, accompanied by long-time friend of the congregation and noted church musician Jeffery Sturrup.

"Last year our ladies presented the theme 'And They Sang At Christmas', and it was a tremendous success; well-received by patrons. From my attendance at the practices I am absolutely satisfied that our patrons will be treated to an equally delightful evening," said Jeanetta Ellis, president of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church Ladies Ministry.

She said the selection of pieces this year are quite eclectic, and guests will be treated to traditional carols such as "In The Bleak Midwinter", "O Holy Night", "Calypso Noel" and " Mary's Boy Chile."

Ms Ellis added that she is particularly delighted that two of the church's teen members, sisters Tynesha and Tyesha Tynes, are providing the narration for the evening.

Applauding the Ladies Ministry Chorus, Mr Walkine said this is the third instalment of the event over the years, and the members are very enthused by the progress they have made.

"The majority of the ladies are not regular choir members, but the level of their presentation belies this fact. This is their annual effort as an auxiliary of the church and they are very enthusiastic about improving each year. The chorus is some 25 members strong and the programme's duration is just over an hour," said Mr Walkine.

He believes the event gives the ladies an opportunity to hone their talents in a musical production and it also provides patrons with an evening of uplifting and edifying music

"I am looking forward to a great turnout by the public being totally pleased at having chosen to attend the event," said Mr Walkine.
