POPEYE Bowl - Can the Ministry of Youth give one reason why the Government should be wasting the sponsorship of this event?
Past years of this event saw the stadium virtually empty - row and rows of chairs empty, the south side of the stadium totally empty - what a great TV picture.
Unfortunately for this year it’s probably too late to cancel but for 2018 and on it has to be cancelled. I thought there was no money in the Treasury - seems we have it overflowing to waste.
All sporting events should be managed by Ministry of Tourism - they have the know how and expertise.
Mr Minister - own up, we’ve wasted thousands on sponsoring this event.
The sole worthwhile sports event - including any of the IAAF events - is Atlantis’ basketball tournament - they make money. The employees through gratuity make money, everyone’s happy. That is a real event, not this Popeye Bowl.
Reality check: stop wasting money Mr Minister of Youth-Sports and Culture.

These foreign events are not for the locals ........ they are for the university teams and supporters that come here as part of our "sports tourism" promotion ...... The ESPN sponsors and the schools' boosters pay for the majority of this event ........ But the MOYSC should be open about these costs and what are the "intangible benefits" that these events bring to the country.
