Be encouraged

By ALLISON MILLER

“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so; but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.”

— (Psalm 1:3 KJV)

THE new year has begun and we are already into the second month. It is important that we stay focused on God.

I know some of us got off to a rough start, which may cause you to lose faith. I urge you that this is no time for us to be losing our faith. If anything, it needs to be increased because what we are facing collectively as a nation and in our individual lives.

We have to be assured that God is not slack concerning His promises toward us. He still says ‘Yea’ and ‘Amen’ to His children. So don’t be fooled by the noise in the market or who may seem to be prospering more than you are. If that prosperity is not rooted and grounded in God then it is only for a short season. The prosperity we want causes no stress and adds no sorrow, but brings peace and fulfilment.

I want to encourage you today that regardless of what you are going through, persevere! It builds good character. It does not matter who seems to be doing well around you, hold on to your faith in God; He will come through for you.

Don’t believe for a minute that the ungodly are doing better than you who believe in and serve God. The Bible states what their position is; they are like the chaff that the wind drives away.

Believers are human, too, and sometimes we need reminding of the goodness of God and His word and promises to us. We should not build our hope on temporary things, but on eternal things.

Hold for just a little while longer. God will rescue you. We have to be aware of situations, circumstances and relationships that come to uproot our faith in God. It is imperative that we hold on to God’s unchanging hands.

I say all of this to say that regardless of what you are going through, and I know the struggle is real for a lot of us, God will see you through whatever the circumstances and will mend the broken relationships. Be encouraged and remember God is faithful and He will see us through.
