Cove Knights win two straight!

REUBEN Goodman scored 24 points and pulled in 11 rebounds while Livingston Munnings added 15 points and 12 boards as the Cove Knights won their second consecutive Atlantis Interdepartmental Basketball Championship with a 67-61 victory over the Banquet Bombers.

Goodman capped his first season with the Knights in triumphant fashion as the outstanding rookie and league’s leading scorer helped the Knights win their 19th straight game over the past two seasons. He was named Finals MVP for his performance after also taking home the regular season League MVP trophy earlier in the evening.

Determined to lead the opposing Bombers to victory was Michael ‘Furly’ Bain who amazed the crowd with his high-flying ability, leading all scorers on the night with 35 points.

Unfortunately no other Bomber finished with more than six points and despite his stellar performance banqueting fell just short of glory in the end.

Prior to the headlining championship game, players from each team around the league came together for the 2017 Atlantis Basketball League All-Star Game. This highlight filled event was a crowd favourite and amazing feats of athleticism from our very own Atlanteans were on full-display.

In the end, the Eastern All-Stars defeated the Western All-Stars 54-49 led by rookie Cameron Adderley.

After leading his team, the PITDA Enforcers, to a playoff berth, Cameron was also named the 2017 Atlantis Basketball Rookie of the Year and the Cove Knights’ Demetrius Taylor took home Coach of the Year honours for this past season.

In the 3-pt Shootout, the Surveillance Eagle’s very own Durrall ‘Ice’ Rolle put on a shooting clinic to be named the 2017 3-pt champion and opening the evening of events was the Coaches vs. Managers Exhibition game.

The Managers team won handily over the Coaches with Mathan Bowe and Quinton Brennen leading the charge.
