Well-known physician Dr Baldwin Carey dies

DR Baldwin Carey, a well-known physician, died Thursday of a heart attack.

Dr Carey, a gynaecologist, was a former business partner of Dr Bernard Nottage—the former minister of national security who died in a Florida hospital last Wednesday.

Dr Carey also served as a medical consultant to the National Insurance Board (NIB).

Dr Carey was one of four NIB officials asked to take vacation leave in late May, as the Minnis administration prepared to launch an audit of the government entity.

At the time, a well-placed source in the Minnis administration said the demand for the employees to take vacation leave did not suggest or prove that the officials in question engaged in any impropriety.

Dr Carey had also worked for the Princess Margaret Hospital and Public Hospitals Authority.
