Believers attending last week's Bahamas National Baptist Women's Convention were sent out into their communities following their meeting to share with others what they have learned about walking with God. It was a time for Christian women to be instructed and inspired as the 81st annual session was held under the theme "Kingdom Minded Women Walking in Holiness".

For five days last week, Baptist women from all across the Family Islands and New Providence came together for teaching sessions and to hear reports from various committees, meet new people, as well as reminisce with old friends. They also hosted education classes for children of all ages, as speakers and musicians shared their talents.

Highlights of the week also included a Baptist Young Women's night of 'Singspiration'; a President's Night; the National Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention Night; Family Island Night, Bible Bowl Night, and the Island Tour during the morning sessions.

Currently headed by Rev Sabrina Pinder, president of the National Baptist Women's Convention, one of the organisation's goals is to encourage women to not only live faith-based lives in their homes, but to also build better communities. The women aim to inspire participants to be imitators of Christ so that younger and less mature women can follow their examples.

"When women meet they have the opportunity to grow spiritually, physically, psychologically, and in many other ways. Additionally, the department tries to assist the needy and elderly, particularly those on the Family Islands. These sessions are encouraging, exciting, enlightening and empowering. The ladies cannot wait for the unfolding of another conference as every year God has blessed the sessions to be more exciting," Rev Pinder told Tribune Religion.

She deemed it an honour and privilege for her and the officers of the National Baptist Women's Convention to spread the gospel to others, especially women. They are all delighted to continue with the work that was started and build for the glory of God and betterment of women.

"We anticipated a rich and rewarding convention that will leave participants excited, enlightened and empowered. It is always our prayer that what is shared in the house will be shared to others and help to make a difference in homes, the community and ultimately the nation. In everyone's life there is a need for a refreshing and relaxing period. As such, it is important for women of God to come together in a corporate setting and be encouraged, uplifted, enlightened, refreshed and restored. This event is meant to do just that. They are reminded of the promises of God and encouraged to believe. They can then return to their homes, communities and work place and make a difference," said Rev Pinder.
