NPBA awards set for Thursday at the Pier

THE New Providence Basketball Association has announced that their awards presentation for the 2016/17 will take place on Thursday, July 20 at the Pier on Elizabeth Avenue North, starting at 7:30 pm.

League president Eugene Horton released the list of awardees as follows:

The league's division one champions are Mr Ship It Regulators and the runners up are the Mail Boat Cybots.

The pennant winners in the John Archer division are the Commonwealth Bank Giants and the pennant winners in Vince Ferguson are Real Deal Shockers.

Individually, Kemsy Sylvestre of the University of the Bahamas Mingoes won the steals category, Rashad Williams of the Rebels won the assist category, Eugene Bain of the Regulators scored the most points and the most rebounds and Livingston Munnings of the Mailboat Cybots had the most blocks.

Bain and Munnings will share the regular season most valuable player (MVP) award.

The league, however, will announce the Coach of the year as well as the championship MVP on awards night.

The division II champions are the Breezes High Flyers and the runners up are the Johnson's Trucking.

The pennant winners in the Godfrey McQuay division are the Athletico Bahamas and the pennant winners in the Charles Mackey division are the Johnson Truckers.

Individually, Cameron Ferguson of the Bargain City Wholesalers had the most steals, Christian Johnson of the Hype Basketball Club had the most assists, Christorr Stuart of the Johnson Trucking scored the most points, Andreas Black of the Hype Basketball Club had the blocks and Tehrad Rahming of the Athletico had the most rebounds.

Stuart was named the regular season MVP.

The league, however, will announce the Coach of the year as well as the championship MVP on awards night.

The league's sponsor appreciation awards will go to Rotary and Leno Corporation.

The league will also announce their Fan of the Year.

But the executive of the year will be presented to treasurer Sophia Hunter.
