IN her best showing so far on the professional tennis player, Bahamian Kerrie Cartwright just missed out on the opportunity to celebrate her first championship title on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) women's circuit.

Playing in another of her series of tournaments in Europe in the $15,000 Les Contamines-Montjoie Tournament in Les Contamines-Montjoie, France, Cartwright and her American partner Kariann Pierre-Louis fell short in the doubles final on Saturday.

In their epic final match, Cartwright and Pierre-Louis lost to the top-ranked Germany team of Tavisiya Morderger and Yana Morderger 2-6, 6-4 (10-7).

"Doubles was a close match that just came down to certain points during the third set," she said of the heartbreaking loss. "The tiebreaker made the difference."

Cartwright and Pierre-Louis got to the final as they stunned the No 2 seeded team of Naima Karamoko and Tess Sugnaux of Switzerland 6-2, 1-6 (10-5) in another grueling outcome.

They won their quarterfinal with an impressive 6-2, 6-3 win over the Italian team of Benedetta Ivaldi and Ludmilla Samsonova, ranked at No 3. They had a marathon 3-6, 7-6 (5), (10-6) win over the duo of Chiara De Vito from Italy and Emma Hurst from Great Britain.
