Books company donates printer to library

AFTER more than a year of not having a photocopier machine, the Nassau Public Library and Library Services Unit received an all-in-one copier/printer thanks to a donation from Scholar Books.

CEO Albert Cox learned of their dilemma and moved to help by making the purchase from the Amoury Company.

The donation, valued at over $10,000, included a year of supplies and a service contract, according to a press release.

"We are dedicated to finding ways to assist the development of the educational system, and libraries and librarians throughout the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, along with enhancing the experience of libraries," said Mr Cox. "We appreciate these types of partnerships and are proud to support our community."

Dorcas Bowler, director of libraries in The Bahamas, expressed her gratitude.

"The generous donation of the copier will support the patrons with their research and homework assignments," she said.

The octagon shaped Nassau Public Library and Museum building was once a colonial jail and today is the largest of five libraries in the Bahamas. It is utilised by locals as well as international visitors, schools and tertiary level students.

The facility proudly caters to more than 5,000 subscribers.
