IT has been a productive month for Bahamian Minor League Baseball players thus far, featuring season firsts and league wide awards.

Todd Isaacs continued his surprising power hitting with another home run this week. Isaacs hit his fifth home run of the season - a solo shot in the third inning - to lead the Lake County Captains to a 4-2 win over the Great Lakes Loons on Tuesday. The home run by Isaacs gave the Captains a 1-0 lead.

Through 32 games, he has a slugging percentage of .405 and OPS of .676 with 17 RBI and 10 stolen bases.

“He’s a wonderful young guy who is wise beyond his years. He’s a five-tool player,” Captains manager Larry Day said to the News-Herald. “Speed is his biggest asset. He’ll mis-hit balls on the infield and still get on base. He hits for average and power and catches everything hit to him in the outfield.”

The Captains are 15-23 and in 8th place in the Eastern Division of the Midwest League in Single A.

Lucius Fox is currently in the midst of a six-game hit streak and hit his first home run of the season on May 13.

His Bowling Green Hot Rods’ rally fell short, but Fox finished 2-5 with a home run in a 7-5 loss to Cedar Rapids.

He hit .237 in the month of April but has increased those numbers and is hitting .386 thus far in May and has hit safely in eight of his last 10 games.

Through 30 games, Fox is hitting .294 with 10 RBI, 13 runs scored, eight stolen bases and an OPS of .729 with a .358 slugging percentage.

The Hot Rods have a 17-20 record, 5th in the Eastern Division of the Midwest League.

Champ Stuart began the month by being awarded the Double A Eastern League Player of the Week Award for the Binghampton Rumble Ponies.

After a brief adjustment period to Double-A, Stuart settled in to become a standout, not just for the Rumble Ponies, but in the entire league.

Through a four game stretch, Stuart hit .455/.519/.909 with two doubles, a triple, two home runs, 5 RBI, six runs, and five stolen bases to earn the Player of the Week honours. Stuart currently leads the Eastern League with 13 stolen bases in 14 tries.
