Aliv Buckets get 91-90 victory over Rockets

THE Aliv Buckets and the Rockets D1 won the New Providence Basketball Association's double header at the AF Adderley Gymnasium on Monday night.

In the men's division II opener, Aliv nipped the Rockets 91-90 and the Rockets avoided a double dose of whammy by routing the JD's Seafood Shockers 93-80.

of the two games played:

Buckets 91, Rockets 90: Dylan Musgrove canned the game-winning basket with just four seconds left to lift Aliv to their victory in the opener.

Crispin Gibson put the Rockets ahead 90-89 on a three-pointer with seconds left, but they didn't contain Musgrove at the other end of the basket as he sealed the deal.

Musgrove, playing 32 minutes and 32 seconds, had 27 points with 14 rebounds to pace Aliv. Rashad Ingraham had 16 points and three rebounds, James Rolle added 11 points with three assists and two rebounds and Travis Stuart chipped in with 10 points, three rebounds and three assists.

Bertram Minns had a game high 31 points with five rebounds and two assists in leading the Rockets in defeat. Craig Gibson had 15 points and five rebounds, Tanaji Lightbourne had seven points, Leon Rahming had six points and Crispin Gibson finished with three points, seven assists and five rebounds.

The keenly contested game was tied 18-18 at the end of the first quarter. The Rockets went up 47-43 at the half. But Alive regained the lead 65-63 at the end of the third.

Rockets 93, Shockers 80: Eugene Bain, wearing a different uniform after helping Mr Ship It Freight Regulators win the men's division one title, pumped in 21 points with 10 rebounds in 28 minutes and 34 seconds to pace the Rockets to victory. Lerecus Armbrister had 10 points and four rebounds and Dominique Deadle had nine points and three rebounds to help out. For the Shockers, William Rigby had a game high 29 points with 11 rebounds, Shakwon Lewis had 23 points, five rebounds and five assists and Reuben Goodman added seven points with three rebounds.

The Rockets led from start to finish. They opened a 23-12 first quarter lead and took a 39-26 margin at the half and extended it to 68-53 at the end of the third quarter.

The NPBA is slated to be back in action with another double header tonight.

In the men's division two opener, the Triple K Stampers will take on the Resistance at 7:30pm and the PJ Stingers will face the Pirates in the men's division one feature contest at 8:30pm.
