Baha Mar opens SLS hotel to paying guests

BAHA Mar yesterday achieved another milestone when its 299-room SLS property opened to guests for the first time.

Reservations have gone live for the $4.2 billion project's second new hotel property, with the SLS joining Grand Hyatt as the new flag/brand operator at Cable Beach.

"The opening of SLS Baha Mar today signifies the official completion of phase II, and the progress we are making towards our grand opening in 2018, as well as the dedicated commitments we made to our guests and the Bahamian people to offer a true luxury of choice in accommodations and experiences at Baha Mar," said Graeme Davis, Baha Mar's president.

"We extend the warmest welcome to our newest 300 employees, and look forward to introducing guests to the stunning SLS Baha Mar." The official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the resort, hosted by Mr Davis and sbe founder and chief executive, Sam Nazarian, will take place on Friday.

SLS Baha Mar features three culinary and cocktail outlets: Cleo, Monkey Bar and Bungalow Pool Bar & Grill. It includes 299 rooms and suites, 12,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, and access to all Baha Mar facilities.

The SLS property has provided employment for a 300-strong workforce. Currently at 3,000 total employees, Baha Mar will increase that number to 4,000 by the end of 2017. Phase III of Baha Mar's opening will take place in spring 2018 with the addition of Rosewood Baha Mar.
