Citizenship change illegal

EDITOR, The Tribune.

CITIZENSHIP…It is so funny we have been through this two times, including spending $2m plus on referendum and the politicians and political gods, still do not wish to understand the required process.

It will be illegal, as in against The Constitution to try to amend the Nationality Act, and then enforce those changes, without a two thirds vote in Parliament and the all important and required Referendum.

It amazes me, that politicians who should know better, still want to play they are above the law and this will fly.

As the sun will rise in the east, if the Minnis Government tries this, you know that the Human Rights people, will challenge all the way to Privy Council, they will win and government will have wasted millions in process-time and costs.

There is one way and only one way - we accept to change is the ultimate end, but when the People speak in a referendum, usually it is a protest vote against the sitting government. Today the FNM would lose so bad, that it will be laughable and injurious to their re-election.

Ideally all children born to a Bahamian, male or female, will be citizens at birth. Those born outside of The Bahamas will have to swear allegiance solely to The Bahamas (dual citizenship will cancel their Bahamian citizenship). No Bahamian is legally supposed to hold two citizenships anyway, although hundreds do and successive Governments look the other way.

To Hon Doc govern yourself, not from what your “listeners” are hearing being talked on the Talk Shows…best advice given. Be yourself, 6-months is gone, sir.

What do you have to say, we the FNM did?
