BGDBA postseason opens

THE Bahamas Government Departmental Basketball Association opened its postseason on Saturday night with all eight playoff teams playing in the four games at the AF Adderley Gymnasium.

were as follows:

Bamboo Shack Cybots def. the Police Royals 82-69; Police Crimestoppers held off the Suntime Sharks 88-84; the Airport Authority Avengers knocked off the Defence Force Patrollers 77-61 and the BDOC Challengers dialed up the Real Deal Rangers 70-65.

Cybots 82, Royals 69: In 28 minutes and 28 seconds, Eugene Bain pumped in 20 points with 11 rebounds to lead Bamboo Shack to victory.

Bamboo Shack, the league's best regular season team with a 13-1 win-loss record, took a 1-0 lead in their series against the Police, who were eighth at 8-6.

Jason Collie also had 20 points with eight rebounds and three steals and Billy Sands added 11 points with eight rebounds with six assists and two steals.

Lesly Dorcevil led the Police with a game high 21 points and seven rebounds. Chevy Simmons had 14 points and eight rebounds and Brandon Cooper added 11 points with four rebounds.

Crimestoppers 88, Sharks 84: Randy Williams connected on 21 points with five rebounds as the other Police team pulled off their encounter.

The second place Police, who finished in second at the end of the regular season at 12-2, took a 1-0 lead in their series against seventh place Suntime, who was 8-6.

Dion McPhee had 20 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals to help out, while Ishmael Curtis had 13 points and 17 rebounds and Mark Hanna chipped in with 11 points, three rebounds and two assists.

In a losing effort for Suntime, Edvardo Burrows had a game high 24 points with six steals and three rebounds.

Rashad Gardiner had 13 points with four rebounds and Hakeem Walkes added 12 points, five rebounds and three steals.

Avengers 77, Patrollers 61: Rashad Woodside, in 30.01, came through with 21 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two assists in the win for BDOC.

The BDOC, fifth place finishers in the regular season at 9-5, took a 1-0 lead in their series against the sixth place Defence Force, who were 9-5.

Trevor Greene had 10 points and four rebounds and both Vance McPhee and Patrick Brice had nine points and four rebounds apiece to help out.

Salathiel Dean powered in a game high 22 points and 17 rebounds in the loss for the Real Deal.

Cyril Rolle had 14 points and four assists and DeVontee Gibson chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds for his team.
