BOWLING

FINANCIAL LEAGUE

TYRONE Knowles of Leno Corporate Services was the top scorer in Financial Bowling League competition Wednesday night at Mario's Family and Entertainment Centre with a 224 high game and a 622 high three game set.

Stan Bethell of Strike Force was the runner-up with a 536 second high set. Alfred Burrows of BTC Night Hawks downed the pins for the second high game of 212.

Uchenna Delva of Deloitte & Touché was the ladies' MVP with a 219 high game and an impressive 595 high three game set. She was followed by Betsy Taylor of Best Deal Kirki Bar with a 533 second high set while Joy Lockhart of BTC Night Hawks downed the pins for the second high game of 213.

The team scores of the evening were as follows: Leno Corporate Services 2.5, ZNS Hill Thrillers 0.5; Rubis Oil Stars 2, Strike Force 1; Moonlight Strikers 2, Deloitte & Touche 1; BTC Night Hawks 2, Best Deal Kirki Bar 1.

BSAA ACTION

The Bahamas Scholastic Athletic Association continued their regular season action Wednesday at the Tom 'The Bird' Grant Sporting Complex in Yellow Elder. In results from the senior girls' division, Akhepran Academy defeated the Leadership Academy 25-19 and 25-10 and the Mt Carmel Preparatory Academy def. Academy 18-25, 25-21 and 15-11.

BASKETBALL

THE Catholic Schools basketball league continued on Tuesday at the Loyola Hall on Gladstone Road.

In the girls' game played, St Thomas More Sparks defeated the Xavier's Giants 34-10 as Essence Sands scored 13 points in the win. Zariah Smith and Rayven Lewis both had four in the loss.

The boys' game saw St Thomas More rout Xavier's 43-4. Andru Arthur was the top scorer with 13 points and both Davon Davis and Trent Ford had six. Rhiaughn Ferguson scored two points in the loss. The action is slated to continue 4pm today with four games on tap. St Francis Joseph will play St Thomas More girls and Xavier's will play St Cecilia's girls and boys.

QUALIFIER

THE Bahamas has been granted one spot into the main draw for the Web.Com tournaments to be held on the islands of Exuma and Abaco in January next year. As a result, the Bahamas Golf Federation is hosting a qualifier this weekend to select the players who will win a spot.

The qualifier will be held at Baha Mar's Royal Blue Golf course starting at 8.30am on Saturday and Sunday. The qualifier is open to both professional and amateur golfers with a handicap of 5.4 or less.

Competition is expected to be tough with a field of top golfers that includes 2016 and 2017 national amateur champions Devaughn Robinson and Richard Gibson Jr, Oren Butler, Thomas Bethel and Lemon Gorospe.

Other local pros and golfers including Greg Maycock and Emalcus Hield from Freeport, Grand Bahama, are also expected to participate. Persons interested in playing should contact Glen Archer at 424-1404 or Georgette Rolle at 828-4653.
