Showing respect to The Office of The Governor·General - dress code
INDEPENDENCE 2017 saw a considerable lack of decorum as to how persons invited to Government House dressed - we saw Ministers wearing shirts, outside of pants, which were really beach or lounging shirts - many top officials not wearing ties, which is the accepted dress code for Government House.
I see on BIS web site a Parliamentary Secretary “paying a goodwill call” on Her Excellency tie-less.
Before this gets totally out of hand surely there should be an Official Release from Government House as to the appropriate dress code when visiting Her Excellency?
Everything else we turned sloppy and totally undisciplined surely we can keep one area disciplined and respectful to the Office?
What are all these “courtesy calls” associations one has never heard of seemingly wasting Ministers time when they need to be at work about The People’s Business.
Editor - Government House is the House of the representative of our Head of State - at the least we must show respect to the Office and the person who holds that Office.
It might be the People’s time but.....decorum and respect must be shown.

Nothing and no one can indignify the Office of the Governor General more than the current Governor General herself. Our disgraceful GG is a well known tax dodger who enjoys sucking on the public purse.

Your assessment is the correct way to approach this. Something is wrong with Bahamians, put someone in a nice suit give them a fancy car, a title and a nice haircut or some remy and we are willing to accept them into the most critical roles in this country, based off nothing other than appearance. Not that GG is "critical", but you get what I'm saying... It would be great if we forced parliamentarians to catch a bus down and show up in work clothes and work boots just so people could judge what they do rather than how Parliamentaryish they look.
We have "look the part" down pat. We need to work on substance now.
