Kristian Robinson shares a special moment with some of the young, aspiring baseball stars at St Andrew’s School.
ST Andrew’s School recognised 16-year-old Kristian Robinson (former student) in an assembly on Monday after he signed a contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Heads of the school, his former PE coaches, class teachers, upcoming St Andrew’s baseball athletes and his graduating class were all in attendance to pay tribute.
Kristian, who attended St Andrew’s School from pre-reception to high school, said that he now fully understands the value of an International Baccalaureate (IB) education and the attribute of the IB Learner Profiles.
“I can proudly say that St Andrew’s has prepared me for the real life challenges that I will be faced with,” he said.
Kristian was introduced to the baseball world through his first coaching experience at the Junior Baseball League of Nassau (JBLN).
He said that his love for baseball started when he was five years of age. His parents, Michele and Keith Robinson, indicated that it was a hard decision to have him leave St Andrew’s School at the age of 16 to start a local baseball academy, Maximum Development, directed by a group of former Bahamian professional baseball players.
It wasn’t long before his talent was scouted by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Kristian officially signed a contract with the team on July 2. Apart from the support of his parents and grandparents, Kristian said he was inspired by his late granduncle, Thomas Augustus Robinson, who told him to remember the four Ds, More discipline, determination, dedication and desire.
He is a true inspiration to the students, teachers and administrators of St Andrew’s School.
Said Principal Robert Stitch: “Kristian is the epitome of what we hope all St Andrew’s students would be.”
He credits the holistic IB programme as its balanced educational model focuses not only on academics, but all areas of developing the whole child.
The St Andrew’s family salutes Kristian Robinson on his amazing accomplishment.
