IT WAS a marquee day for a pair of Bahamian football players at both the high school and collegiate levels in their latest appearances.

Michael Bullard had his first interception of the season for the Peru State Bobcats while Baily McBride and Devyn Munroe had career days for the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles.

Bullard’s interception helped the Bobcats dominate the turnover battle en route to a 31-24 win over MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers.

In front of over 800 Bobcat Hall of Fame game fans, they improved their record to 4-1 on the year while the Pioneers, who had been ranked 22nd coming into the contest, fell to 3-2.

It was Bullard’s first interception since his freshman season. He also added three tackles to equal his single season high total of 24.

The Pioneers had 403 total yards with the Bobcats having 356. Peru State did most of their damage on the ground with 285 yards rushing.

Both teams had two fumbles and lost one. Peru State did win the turnover battle, though, as they nabbed two MNU passes.

Peru State will face its second-straight ranked opponent tomorrow when they travel to take on second-ranked Baker.

High school senior running back McBride had a breakout game for the Eagles with 222 rushing yards and one touchdown on 29 carries last week.

Junior wide receiver Munroe had a breakout game as well with three receptions for 87 yards.

Despite their heroics, the Eagles suffered a 43-19 loss to Concord First Assembly Academy.

McBride was named the Max Preps Overall Player of the Game while Munroe was named the Offensive Player of the Game.

McBride opened the season with 112 rushing yards and four touchdowns in a 50-14 win over the Carolina Gladiators in the season opener.

After just two carries for -8 yards in a 47-0 loss to Franklin, he bounced back in game three with eight carries for 63 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-12 win over the Anderson Cavaliers.

However, he carried the ball 14 times for just 12 yards in a 33-0 loss to Robbinsville.

McBride is the teams leading rusher with 401 yards on 6.1 yards per carry and seven touchdowns.

Munroe has eight catches for 128 yards on the season thus far and has at least one reception in every game thus far.

The Eagles are 2-3 on the season and will host Charlotte Country Day School as they look to improve to a .500 win-loss record.
