MAJOR Nassau/Paradise Island hotels yesterday reported "very good" business over the Easter weekend, with the Nassau Airport Development Company (NAD) receiving a "welcomed boost" from CARIFTA games.

"All terminals were busy with passengers excited to begin their holiday weekend experience. The domestic long-term parking lot was full to capacity from the March 30-April 1, 2018, which is a good indicator of the domestic travel. The US and international carriers operated with seating capacities of 90 per cent to 100 per cent occupancy," said Jan Knowles, NAD's vice-president of marketing and communications.

"The Easter period is historically a high season for LPIA. This year, with the addition of the CARIFTA games being hosted in Nassau, charter flights were added to the mix to bring in the athletes and support team. Additional charters were also incorporated to assist with the scheduled flights, which brought a welcome increase in the seating capacity. The curbside, terminals and airside operations were bustling with movement from our transportation operators, passengers and aircraft movement."

Meanwhile Ed Fields, Atlantis's senior vice-president of public affairs, told Tribune Business: "Business is very good and we are very pleased with occupancies."

Gary Williams, Sandals Royal Bahamian's general manager, said that while the resort was not full during the Easter period, business has picked up. "We were not full during Easter but we're full right after Easter; right now were full. We're running high 90s all of April," he added.
