A report in The Tribune yesterday, under the headline ‘Chief Justice?

I’m off to make stew,’ incorrectly identified Philip Telford Georges as a former acting chief justice of the Bahamas before he became the substantive chief justice on January 1 1984.

He served in that role until September 30, 1989. Before Mr Georges’ appointment, Sir Denis Eustace Gilbert Malone was acting chief justice from September 10, 1983 to December 31, 1983.

The Tribune understands Sir Denis served in that role only because Mr Georges had yet to arrive in the Bahamas after serving as a Supreme Court judge in Zimbabwe.
