Dean Adderley demits office at Christ Church Cathedral

In thanksgiving, members of Christ Church Cathedral will be hosting a series of special events to honour Rev Patrick Adderley upon his retirement from the position as Dean of Nassau and Rector of Christ Church Cathedral.

Dean Adderley is the son of the late Mr and Mrs Nathaniel Adderley. He hails from Nassau and his secondary education at St John's College. He studied for the priesthood at the House of Sacred Mission, Kelham, England, and holds the Degree of Bachelor of Theology from the University of Nottingham.

He was ordained Deacon in 1974 and made a parish priest in 1975. Dean Adderley served in the parishes of St John and St Peter in Abaco. He also taught at the Abaco Secondary High School.

Dean Adderley served as parish priest at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Pinder's Point, along with the Church of St Jude, Smith's Point, Grand Bahama, from 1978 to 1982.

In February 1998, he was installed as Dean and Rector of Christ Church Cathedral and appointed Vicar General in 2001.

He has served as a member of the Hospital Licencing Authority, the Lyford Cay School Board, as deputy chairman of the Bahamas Telecommunications Corporation and chairman of the Antiquities Monuments and Museums Corporation.

Dean Adderley is married to Astrid (née Johnson) and has three children: Miranda, Omar and Gavin. His hobbies include reading, gardening and travelling.

The schedule of events to mark the Dean's retirement and celebrate his years of ministry is as follows:

• Sunday, August 4: Cathedral Parish Picnic

• Sunday, August 12: Tea party in honour of Mrs Adderley)

• Sunday, August 17: Dance/Jazz Night

• Sunday, August 19: Vesper service and naming of the Cathedral House

• Friday, August 24: Gala ball

• Sunday, August 26: Family Eucharist and naming of the parish hall
