AS he continues to make his transition to American football, Devanno Whitfield has begun to field Division I offers.

Whitfield, a defensive end in the class of 2019, has received his first offer from the Florida International University Panthers of Conference USA.

This season, Whitfield transferred from Doral Academy to the McArthur Mustangs in Hollywood, Florida, along with fellow Bahamian standout offensive line prospect Marlon Johnson.

Whitfield was 6'4", 240 pounds when he began playing the sport as a tight end, but has been listed at 255 in just three months. Last spring, he has posted impressive performances at the Nike and Rivals camps and also at the Adidas 7 on 7 East Coast Regionals.

A former student at Anatol Rodgers, Whitfield was a member of the 2017 Centrobasket Under-17 team as a basketball player.

For his football talent, he has had several unofficial visits with FIU, FAU, Central Florida and the University of Florida.

Johnson has also been rising on the prospect lists in the state of Florida. The 6'3", 285-pound guard has been spotlighted by several recruiting services headed into his senior season. This summer he participated in the Under Armour Big Man Challenge and the FIU Offensive/Defensive Lineman camp.

McArthur opened the 7A District 15 season last week with a 27-6 win over Flanagan.
