BAISS CROSS

COUNTRY

THE Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools is set to hold its first Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The event will begin at 8am at St Augustine’s College. All of the schools in the BAISS are expected to participate.

THROWERS

MEET

THE RC Athletics Club, headed by coach Ronald Cartwright, is set to hold its annual Throwers Meet on Saturday, starting at 9am. The meet is open to all competitors, whether they are in junior and senior high schools, college or clubs or not affiliated with any organisation.

The registration fee is $8 and all competitors will be allowed to participate in any and or all events contested, including shot put, discus and javelin.

BANQUET

UNDER the theme “Defying the Odds, Fulfilling Our Dreams,” the Roadrunners Track and Field Club will hold its 19th annual Awards and Presentation Banquet on Saturday at 7:30pm in the Crown Ballroom of the Beach Towers at the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island.

This year’s scripture text is from Genesis 45: 6-8 and the theme song is “When You Believe” by Whitney Houston. The event will be held under the patronage of Elvera Pinder, Sonia Missick, Monique Forbes and Grenalda Bodie.

The club, headed by Dexter Bodie, will be honouring its athletes for their accomplishments on and off the track. Awards will be presented to the various winners in every age group category for athletics and academics.

SOFTBALL

TRIALS

THE University of the Bahamas Mingoes Athletic Department is set to open its softball trials on Saturday at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex, starting at 9am.

All female softball players interested in earning an athletic scholarship or attending UM to participate on their softball team are invited to attend, dressed in proper attire to go through the workout session.

RUGBY

NASSAU CUP

THE Bahamas Rugby Union is scheduled to have a bi-week this weekend as they prepare for Nassau Cup final when Cuckoos take on Bailiou on Saturday, December 15 at the Winton rugby pitch.
