Bahamas golfers bring home the Higgs & Higgs Trophy

THE Bahamas was well represented at the recent Caribbean Golf Association’s (CGA) Four Ball Championship.

Recently, the event was held at the famous PGA Golf Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The championship included players from the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, Puerto Rico, Barbados, Jamaica and Cayman Islands.

Players competed in teams of two in five divisions as well as the Ambrose Gouthro Cup for the best combined score. Scoring was based on the best ball of the two-man team over three rounds of play.

The Bahamas team was represented by:

Peter Mcintosh/John McIntosh - Ramon Baez Romond Cup ( Mid Am)

Horace Miller/George Swann - Francis Steel-Perkins Cup ( Seniors)

Kevin Marche/Steve Wallace - Higgs & Higgs Trophy (Super Seniors)

The BGF congratulates all players but especially Kevin Marche and Steve Wallace for winning the Higgs & Higgs Trophy.

Marche and Wallace got off to a great start on day one and held the lead from start to finish, winning by six shots with a combined score of 222. Cayman was second with 228, followed closely by Jamaica with 229.

Both McIntosh/McIntosh and Miller/Swann finished 6th in their respective divisions.

Team Bahamas finished 5th overall in the Ambrose Gouthro Cup. The team was accompanied on the trip by manager/coach Anthony Hinsey, the vice president of the BGF.

President Lynford Miller said he was happy to see one of the trophies come back to the Bahamas.
