ONE man is dead and two others are in hospital after a shooting at a nightclub on Friday night.

Police have said they want to speak with two men –  Christopher “CJ” Blyden, 24, of Blue Hill Road and Vernal Johnson, 25, of Dumping Ground Corner – for help in connection with the investigation.

According to police, shortly after 11pm a group of people were at a night club in the area of Hutchison Street when three men entered and got into an argument with one of the patrons.

Subsequently, one of the three produced a weapon and fired into the crowd, resulting in three men being shot.

Police said the gunman left the club and jumped into a burgundy Japanese vehicle which sped away. The three victims were taken to hospital where one died, marking the 12th homicide for the year, according to The Tribune’s records. Friends have identified him as Rico Taylor.

Since the shooting, police have asked for the public’s assistance in locating Blyden and Johnson.

Both men are described as having a dark brown complexion and slim build.

Friday’s incident came two days after another man died in hospital after he was found outside a home with gunshot wounds Wednesday night.

That shooting happened at Munnings Drive in South West Ridge.

According to police, shortly after 10pm, officers received a report of gunshots in the area. When officers responded to the scene, they discovered a man lying in front of a residence with injuries to the body.

Paramedics transported the man to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police have have identified him as Keno Strachan. He was a hotel employee.

Anyone with information on any of these incidents or any crime are asked to call 919, 502-9991 or the Crime Stoppers hotline at 328-TIPS.
