Clifton correction

EDITOR, The Tribune.

In an article “Ruining Our Heritage,” I incorrectly referenced the historic steps of Clifton to the plantation era.

Thanks to Paul Aranha for providing the following information.

In 1916, J Ernest Williamson came to Nassau, to film Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, the world’s first underwater full-length feature movie.

Williamson wanted to film scenes inside the well-known cave.

Access to the cave was very difficult, so Williams had the steps cut - in 1916.

The cave became known as Jane Gale’s Cave, who acted in the film.
