OMNI Financial Group is expanding its operations to Freeport next month, creating new jobs on the island and providing much needed service to residents and businesses on Grand Bahama.

The announcement comes as “great news,” Minister of State for Grand Bahama Senator Kwasi Thompson said Thursday at the Office of the Prime Minister in Freeport.

Mr Thompson met with Harvey Morris, director of Omni Financial Group Limited, who announced they are opening two new locations on Grand Bahama and hiring 10 people.

Omni has operated in Grand Bahama for many years providing services such as money transfers and pay day loans. The locations will be at Abaco Markets Group of Companies and Cost Rite.

Mr Morris said that Omni also has locations in Abaco, Eleuthera, and New Providence. He has confidence that the Grand Bahama economy will be revived by the government, and plans to open other locations when that happens.

Mr Thompson said Omni’s expansion is great news not only because it is providing new jobs. He said Omni provides Grand Bahamians and local businesses with additional opportunities to access funds.

He commended Omni on its expansion, and encouraged other private sector companies to look at creating employment opportunities on Grand Bahama because the government is creating an environment for them to expand their businesses.

I don't believe anyone in Grand Bahama Believes any of this, Seeing is believing most of the time. Not always. Meanwhile, G.B. Employment improved by 0.2%, I think that translates into 4 jobs..... or maybe that is counting the 10 new hires......

Any job in Freeport right now is a plus. Good luck and I hope you're right about Freeport bouncing back. Lord knows everyone in Freeport is praying for that bounce back to come as quick as possible. Things have never been this bad in all of Freeport's history.

By the way Birdie. Some do believe the Port Lucaya hotels are sold. You say the Princess is up for sale? News to us... lol...
