The Jordan Prince William Falcons and Queen's College Comets matched up in both the junior and senior girls divisions in the semi-final of the BAISS basketball sudden death playoffs. The Falcons top seeded teams were able to advance with a pair of wins.

Senior Girls

FALCONS - 66

Comets - 27

The Falcons outscored the Comets by 17 in the third quarter en route to the most lopsided win of the day.

Brianna Stevens led the Falcons with 18 points, Shanique Thompson had 15 and Dwaynique Rolle added 12. Tyler Lightbourne led the Comets with eight points.

The Falcons raced out to an 8-0 lead but QC responded with eight unanswered points to the game on a #4 jumper. After a Falcons score, QC took their first lead of the game on a three and led 14-10 on a Esther Sweeting corner three. The Falcons tied the game again at 14 after scores from Stevens and Thompson. Rolle gave the Falcons a 15-14 lead at the end of the first.

Tied at 16, a Stevens three from the wing gave the Falcons some breathing room with a two-possession lead. The Falcons took their fist double-digit lead, 27-16 on #0 runner. They eventually took a 32-18 lead into the half.

The lead reached 30 for the first time (51-21) on a Thompson fast break layup and the Comets never threatened the remainder of the contest.

They will face the winner of today's SAC and St Johns matchups.

Junior Girls

FALCONS - 34

Comets - 29

The Falcons trailed most of the game and took their first lead as the buzzer sounded to end the third, but defensively, they allowed just a single field goal in the final frame to close out the win.

Kelly Bastian led the Falcons with a game high 15 points while V Charlton added 12. Denika Lightbourne led the Falcons with 12 points and Bryanna Munroe scored eight.

Late in the third, Bastian tied the score at 24 when she split a pair at the line and gave the Falcons a 27-24 lead headed into the fourth on a desperation heave from near half court. She continued her momentum with the first basket of the fourth quarter to take a five-point lead and the Falcons' run eventually extended to seven.

The first quarter was scoreless for the first three minutes before both teams made field goals on consecutive possessions to tie again at four. Munroe made a pull up jumper only to have Bastian respond with a runner for JPW.

The Comets reeled off five consecutive points and ended the period on a 7-1 run to take a 13-7 lead into the second.

The Falcons battled back on a run and a layup from Charlton to trim the deficit to 15-13.

The Comets went on another 7-0 run to pull away and regain control with a 22-17 lead into the half.

The Falcons will advance to face the winners of the St John's and St Augustine's matchups in the best-of-three championship series.
