SHAUNAE Miller-Uibo, lowering her own meet record, continued her success on the international circuit by repeating as the champion of the women's 400 metres at the Gyulai Memorial in Hungary.

One of four Bahamians entered in the meet yesterday, Miller-Uibo caught the pack on the back stretch and by the time she came off the final curve, she was in full control, stretching her 6-foot, one-inch frame for her easy victory in 49.53 seconds.

Her time eclipsed her Hungarian Grand Prix Athletics meet record of 49.86 that she posted last year. However, it was shy of her world leading time of 49.52 that she ran on May 26 in Eugene, Oregon.

Miller-Uibo is coming off her double victory in the women's high jump and the shot put at the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations' National Open Track and Field Championships, where she opted not to compete in either the 200m or the 400.

Also at the meet, back in action after they got first and third respectively at the BAAA Nationals, Donald Thomas was fourth and Trevor Barry tied for fifth in the men's high jump.

In a season's best of 2.32 metres or 7-feet, 7 1/4-inches, Thomas had more knockdowns as he trailed Danil Lysenko and Brandon Starc at the same height.

Olympic and world champion Mutaz Essa Barshim of Qatar won with 2.40m (7-10 1/2) as he matched his world leading mark and erased the previous meet record of 2.38m (7-9 3/4) that was held by Ukraine's Bohdan Bondarenko from 2014.

And 400m hurdler Jeffery Gibson competed in the men's 400m where he placed seventh in a time of 46.95. Gibson was back in action after he missed participating in the BAAA Nationals. The race was won by Luguelin Santos of Dominica in 44.88.

Bahamian national record holder Steven Gardiner, who established the meet record of 44.30 in 2015, didn't participate in the race.

The performances yesterday came after Bahamian triple jump national record holders Tamara Myers and Leevan 'Superman' Sands competed in the third annual Aliann Pompey Invitational Championships at the Leonora Stadium in Guyana on Saturday.

Myers, fresh off her national championship victory, was second in the women's triple jump with a best leap of 13.75m (45-1 ½) on her second attempt. She fouled first, did 11.56m (37-11 1/4) on third, 13.54m (44-5 1/4) on fourth, 11.79m (38-8 1/4) on fifth and 13.35m (43-9 3/4) on sixth. Ana Lucia Tima of the Dominican Republic won with 14.03m (46-0 ½) on her second attempt. Natricia Hooper from Guyana was third with 13.22m (43-4 ½) on her sixth attempt.

Sands, coming off his third place finish at the BAAA Nationals, was fifth in the men's triple jump with 15.73m (51-71/4). He did 15.28m (50-1 3/4) on his first, 15.73m (51-71/4) on second, foul third and fourth, passed fifth and fouled sixth.

Donald Scott of the US won with 17.22m (56-6) on his third attempt. Cristian Napoles of Cuba was second with 16.96m (55-7 ¾) on his third and fourth attempts.

Miguel Van Assen of Suriname was third with 16.67m (54-8 ¼) on his third attempt. Troy Doris of Guyana was fourth with 16.09m (52-9 ½) on his third attempt.
