NPSA All-Star Games take on new format

WHEN the New Providence Softball Association's All-Star games are played in the Banker's Field at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex on Tuesday night, they will take on a slightly different format.

The NPSA, headed by Desiree Taylor, has revealed that their selected men's All-Star team will take on the men's national team that is headed to the Central American and Caribbean Games in Colombia. They will play that game following the regular ladies' All-Star game at 7pm between the top players in the league.

The NPSA has released the names of the players who will participate in the two games.

• Here's a look at the teams selected:

Ladies' A team: Thela Johnson, Dawn Woodside, Shevette Taylor, Jeanette Hilton, Keyshell Robinson, Kendalia Turner, Lathera Brown, Deneisha Woodside, Krystal Evans, Cara Gilbert, Yvanna McDonald, Melinda Bastian, Jovanthe Rose, Shaquel Smith and Amariage Taylor.

Manager - Stephen 'Bishop' Beneby. Coaches - Anthony Bullard and Kelly Smith.

Ladies B team: Valencia Gibson, Sari Albury, Mia Turner, Sophia Cartwright, Vanricka Rose, Larika Russell, Caria Cambridge, Dwayna Pratt, Sheena Taylor, Taylor Cartwright, Shaquel Bain, Shavonne Dames, Darinette Wright, Latonia Bowleg and Rhyiessa Stuart.

Manager - Sidney 'Bobby Baylor' Fernander. Coaches - Hyacinth Farrington and Robert Gilbert.

NPSA men's team: Lyle Sawyer, Alex Clarke, Lavaughn Ferguson, Stephen Russell, Chedi Ferguson, Tori Rolle, Anthony Bowleg, Giovanni Willie, Moses Ker, Mike Butler, Crashad Laing, Jordan Gibson, Rodney Forbes, Stephen McKenzie, Miguel Hanna, Dino Sweeting, D'Juan Seymour and Eugene Pratt.

Manager - Darren Stevens. Coaches - Aphonso 'Chicken' Albury and Olando McPhee.

Men's national team: Sherman Ferguson, Jeffrey Woodside, Richard Bain Jr, Lamar Watkins, Martin Burrows, Thomas Davis, Garfield Bethel, Angelo Dillett, Winston Seymour Jr, Alcott Forbes, Desmond Russell, Leon Cooper, Austin Hanna and Wayne Johnson.

Manager - Perry Seymour. Coaches - Haziel McDonald and Richard 'The Lion Heart' Johnson.

Note: Lyle Sawyer, who resides in Abaco, is on the men's national team but he has been given the opportunity to get in some pitching against his team-mates during the game.
